Whiskyreview #42 Macallan 18yo (OMC) 50%

Time for another Old Malt Cask, this time from the Macallan distillery in Speyside. Matured in a single refill hogshead(#9127) from 1993 – 2012. No colour or chillfiltration. Number of bottles: 265

The nose has raisins, whipped cream and ripe apples with a spicy touch to it. Sweet woodyness is quite prominent which indicates that the cask still had some punch to it when it was filled(refilled).

Taste wise, it’s light and floral. Cripsy lemon notes with vanilla and fruits. Pineapples I think. Very balanced, no flavours dominating the others. Just a pure, clean, crisp and refreshing taste. I’m not even gonna add water to this in fear of ruining it. I have a feeling it drowns easily, even at 50abv. Finish has hints of bitterness in it, kind of like sweet grapejuice. Not super long, but very pleasant indeed.

I would love to have a full bottle of this stuff! The nose and palate is absolutely gorgeous..
