Whiskey Review # 311 Aberlour a’bunadh Batch # 19 59.9%

Bottled in 2007

On the nose: leather, dried apricots and soft oak-like herbs. Also some incense (the one we burn here in Norway for Christmas). Quite easily seen high ABV. In a way thicker and deeper with added water. Prominent custard nuts. Or more like creme brulee .. yes, it does. Delicious stuff indeed.

In the mouth: Toffee and sherry. Sweet and crunchy with tons of red berries. Especially cherries and strawberries. More toffee with water. Dusty wood and also wood varnish. The finish is long with a sweet and savory fruitiness. Green twigs and apples. More spiciness with water.

Very drinkable at barrel strength. Sweet and crunchy. Not a heavy sherry bomb, although the sherry grows more prominently in the glass with a drop of water.

91/100 points

(Thanks to Ragnhild for the sample!)
