Whiskyreview #18 Glenfarclas 15yo 46%

Matured in sherry casks for a minimum of 15 years. image

Nose, Really big toffee note alongside with sherry, condensed milk, very prominent raisins and dates. With water: madeira marzipan, perfume, red wine, fruittobacco (the stuff you smoke in hookas), red apples, bananas, icing sugar, sweet wood and liqourice. Even a little sawdust.

Palate: Spicy and meaty. Very sweet, and full bodied. Madeira marzipan here as well, malt and overripe bananas, Subtle bitternes, reminds me of campari. Very rich mouthfeel, with stewed plums and orange chocolate after a while.

The way I see this, it’s a good allrounder that can be enjoyed on a late winter night in front of the fireplace, as well as a pre-dinner dram at a barbeque party.

85/100 points
